Helps Words Flow so
Publishing Becomes a Breeze

"What’s always drawn me to writing is the magic of sharing feelings
through words.

Excited to push “publish” on your new book or blog post?

Well, you should be.

Your written story is important and deserves to be shared.

Independent Authors

As a professional writer and editor, I partner with authors to support and coach them through the publishing process. I provide developmental editing and coaching services to help authors feel confident in their writing, whether it's a single article or a book-length project.

After working together, authors are ready to self-publish or bring their manuscript to an agent or publisher.

What they say about Eva...

"Eva helped connect the storyline throughout the book. This allowed for greater flow with less extraneous elements that slowed the pace and might have confused readers. The result was a much tighter piece of writing."

Dark Shadows Hover

“Eva is sharp, quick, and organized, and these three qualities help her nail it when it comes to content development. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her talents and professionalism in action while she has provided marketing content development services for PCRC.”

Jo-Ann Byrne Sockolov
Strategy and Organizational Development Consultant

“Eva was able to strike that difficult balance between being helpful while never imposing her style on my work. Her comments and editorial suggestions were always on the money. It was clear to me that she had a genuine commitment to improving my manuscript.”

Writer With A View

how to show readers your story through grounding sensory details
By Eva Barrows May 28, 2025
Most likely you’ve heard the writing instruction, “show, don’t tell.” Sometimes, this is excellent advice; other times, it steers writers off course. Showing immerses readers in an author’s fictional world while telling can skip unnecessary descriptions and get to the good part already. Learn when to show, when to tell, and when to listen to your authorial gut feeling.
How to meet reader expectations with your stories
By Eva Barrows May 28, 2025
Taking a story idea and translating it into an entertaining tale that’s ready for an audience to experience is a huge undertaking. Readers expect to find certain things in the story you set out to tell. Learn what needs to be included in a story to answer its promise to readers, like consistent worldbuilding, hitting genre beats, and creating a main character to root for. If your story has all this, it will be set for a satisfying ending.
How to bring your story to life by choosing the right point of view and narrative distance.
By Eva Barrows May 28, 2025
Knowing which point of view and narrative distance to use to tell your story can be difficult. POV can take you intimately close to your protagonist’s thoughts or fly above all of your characters, only showing how they interact with each other. It’s all too easy to break the rules of perspective, causing reader confusion. Choosing the right POV for my historical fiction novel was a big decision I had to make before I started writing. After some consideration, I decided on first person present tense. If you want to learn more about how POV decisions like this can shape your story, read on.
